This week has been very eventful!

On Monday we welcomed Jean from Greenacres Residential Home and her carer, Karen. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to interact with a member of another generation and it was an extremely worthwhile experience which we plan to continue. What made it especially gratifying was that Karen said that Jean obviously really enjoyed the visit as well and got a lot from it.FE68131D-85C4-475A-AFA4-806800E326D0 39F3ED91-3451-4B36-994C-659D5EF8EFE4D855247F-EEC7-41D6-8CC1-F624E89C6038

As part of our Chinese New Year theme we made Chinese lanterns.13A5FAC3-0992-4744-9051-D5A9B5EFFD87

Then we tried some seaweed at snack time which we bought at the Chinese grocers. The children didn’t seem too keen! They nearly all had a taste though and being confident to try new experiences is an important aspect of the curriculum.A53CEFE4-599C-4A08-B587-14D1EE75CF2246B48C5C-3D05-48D5-BF17-67122DB7A3BB

On Friday we had a visit to our allotment at Collings Park and we planted some daffodil bulbs. The children really enjoyed this and we plan to continue to plant as the weeks progress. Watching things grow and change will lead to further exploration of the seasons and the natural world and discussion of where the things we eat come from.IMG_0561IMG_0564IMG_0568IMG_0571IMG_0565
