Our first full week back had a few tears but also lots of fun! Luckily any parting qualms quickly dissolved and the children settled down very well. 👍 We enjoyed a number of exciting activities, such as measuring how tall we are. We tend to do this at the beginning and end of each year and it’s amazing to see how everyone has grown (except Mr David!) 😂

We had some messy play this week and made play dough and ‘gloop’. This went down very well with everyone!

We explored 2D shapes by making collages. Recognition of shapes is part of the maths curriculum and it’s good to point out shapes in the environment as you chat with your child.

Puzzles are good for developing spatial awareness. Sometimes the children are better at them than the grown ups!

After all of the brain work, we like to have a dance and listen to music!

This week also saw our first visit to Greenacres care home. In case any new parents don’t know we have forged a relationship with the care home and we aim to visit the residents on a weekly basis when possible. We find this experience to be very special as both the elderly people and our children gain a lot from it. It is lovely to see them interacting.

We had the first winner of our ‘tip top tidy upper’ trophy this week. Well done!

One of our parents made an amazing birthday cake for us to share! Great British Bake Off beckons!

Our letter of the week next week will be ‘a’ and our makaton sign is ‘please’. Ask your child for a demonstration!

Finally a request! If your child has small food items such as cherry tomatoes, grapes and cocktail sausages in their lunches, could we ask you to cut them lengthways as this prevents a choking hazard. Thank you! 👍
