This week we have performing lots of science experiments and having lots of WOW moments!

We had fun with cola and mentos!

We also made a volcano with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.

This proved so popular that next week we hope to make individual ones that the children can bring home. For this reason we would like more plastic bottles! Sorry to ask two weeks in a row but we like to respond to the childrens’ interests and they have loved this activity. We could also do with some old newspapers, so if you have any at home we would love you to pass them in. Thanks!

We know that some children talked about our magic milk experiment because some parents have asked how to replicate it at home. Here it is (luckily unlike the cola and mentos, it’s not too messy).

Our magic milk was beautiful!image image

Hair-raising balloon experiments caused a lot of hilarity!

We also made lava bottles…

And cloud dough…

Next week our letter of the week is ‘p’. Our topic is ‘people and communities’, which will include a visit from some police dogs and their handlers. We are really looking forward to this and will let you see all of the action next week! If any other parents would like to come in and talk about their jobs, we would love you to visit, just let us know. Our links to the wider community, such as visits to the care home and Collins Park environmental garden, are very important to us and we would love you to join in.

Many of our children are still learning Spanish with Laura. As a wider group activity this week the children sat in a circle and passed around a teddy while introducing themselves in Spanish. They said their name to their neighbour- “me llamo……” and then asked what they were called “Como te llamas?”. Learning an additional language is a really good learning experience and the children enjoy it very much.

Friday was Red Nose Day and the children had homemade red nose biscuits for snack.
