On Monday we celebrated Guy Fawkes night with some craft and cooking activities. Some children made glittery marble firework pictures.

Now the Hoover is struggling to cope with picking up all of the glitter!

We also made edible sparklers, using breadsticks.

The foundation classes at school had a visit from the fire brigade this week and were kind enough to invite us to participate. The children were so excited and loved climbing into the engine and using the hose!

We are so lucky to be able to take part in visits like this, as they emphasise important links to the community, which are part of the ‘understanding the world’ curriculum. Finding out about the valuable roles that people like fire officers have is excellent learning and experience for the children.

We had some lovely birthday cakes brought in on Friday. Very impressive baking skills!

Next week we will be fund raising for BBC Children in Need with ‘Hey Duggee’. This will include playing educational games throughout the week, such as Pudsey pairs and Pudsey’s phonics and providing colouring sheets with Hey Duggee characters. We will be going on a ‘squirrel hunt’ around the preschool to find characters and doing some themed baking activities.

Parents will have an opportunity to take part in the BBC Children in Need duck race and can ‘buy’ a duck for £2. The race will be broadcast on Facebook on Friday, with our winner receiving a prize! Also on Friday, children can come to preschool in fancy dress or Pudsey bear spots! We will be collecting donations to forward to the charity, so please make sure you have some change if you would like to give.

All in all it looks as though next week will be a lot of fun! Make sure you check here next week to see what happens!
