Finally the summer has arrived with a vengeance and we have spent lots of time outside. When they got too hot, some children decided to cool off in the paddling pools.
We also had a trip to Collins Park where the children planted some tomatoes and rhubarb. Mr David is renowned for his lovely crumble so hopefully he’ll make some rhubarb crumble for us in the future!
The foundation teachers at Compton School organised a mini sports day for us this week with the help of the year 6 children. It was a lovely event and all of the children who took part received a very special flag and certificate which had been made for them by one of the older pupils. We’re so lucky to be invited to do things like this with the primary school. Meeting and conversing with people of all ages is good experience for the preschool children and boosts their confidence when they progress to the next stage of learning.
For the children who wanted a break from the sun we did some printing and painting activities. Potato printing is good for reinforcing knowledge of 2D shapes and colour recognition, both of which are good skills to master in a fun way!
This week we were sad to say goodbye to our student Ellie. We will all miss her and wish her the very best for the future. The children made her a lovely card and gave her some chocolates to say thank you.
We have some exciting events before the end of term, so here is a reminder of what’s coming up:
Friday 12th July @ 2pm: our Sports Day at Greenacres Care Home.
Monday 15th July @ 2.30pm: Leavers Celebration.
Tuesday and Wednesday 16th/17th July: Party Days. You will shortly be given a plate for your food donation. Your child will NOT need lunch on these days. 👍
Thursday 18th July: last day at preschool.
Friday 19th July, 10am-2pm: Party in the Park. All welcome. Bring a picnic and hope the weather is good, ☀️

We enjoyed looking at these pictures together. Harry says ‘he loves both of the Mrs Matthews the mummy and the granny and Mrs Chapple, Miss Warren and Mrs ‘Veal’ and Mrs Back and Mr David and he wants you to come on holiday because you’re all beautiful’ xxx
He’s such a lovely boy and we all love a holiday! 😂
