This week we have had lots of activities which celebrate Chinese New Year. The children all found out which animal they are on the Chinese horoscope. We have a selection of sheep, monkeys and roosters.
We looked at Chinese writing and had a go ourselves.
We also had a go at using chopsticks, which was lots of fun!
The children were excited when we got the bubbles out. They all wanted to have a go at blowing!
A child really wanted to do the dancing footprint activity this week. We played some Chinese music while they danced around. Some of the children forgot to stop at the soles of their feet and started to paint up their legs! It took a bit of washing off.
The cold weather this week gave us an opportunity to find some ice that had formed outside. Talking about changes in the natural world and why they happen is an early introduction to science. They are fascinated that water can become ice and then turn back to water again: it’s almost like magic!
Next week our letter of the week will be ‘k’ and our makaton sign is ‘play’.

We had to have a go at chopsticks for dinner this week too! Sounds like a very exciting week! Thank you
Glad you had a go at home too! We enjoyed ourselves! 😂
