This week the children made fans. They used red and gold paint to decorate them and some children drew Chinese dragons using felt tips. This gave them a great opportunity to practise and perfect their pencil grip and we could help to demonstrate this important skill. 3255F20E-3A92-408C-B385-FC1E93EFACDE8907ED37-2819-4475-BCB3-CA9DB0DFD759479B8326-B82D-4356-A968-B2D49D4AA84890691B71-A5F1-4C8C-B35C-1999B11D9098We also bought some vegetables for our role play area. The sprouts proved especially exciting as the children decided to peel them and make a stew. Who says children don’t like a sprout! This activity was valuable as it was an opportunity for the children to practise both their pincer grip and the use of one-handed tools.127D54B7-0789-49DF-989D-233CAA16E367When we had done this we came together to talk about vegetables and where they come from. This led to a discussion about healthy foods.7C239418-BA5F-4A42-9F24-6EBAF87464E2 Another important aspect of the curriculum (and life in general!) is learning how to cooperate and share resources. We find that when children complete large floor puzzles together they have a good chance to explore these skills. D6C53726-9D8A-41C0-9F73-EE01177CCD4COn Monday we will be welcoming a visitor (and their carer) from Greenacres Residential Home. This is part of our aim to create links with older members of the community. We are really looking forward to this and will let you know what we do next week.
