Although we are now nearly at the end of the year, the pace of Pre-school life hasn’t let up this week!
Apologies again for the Spotlight ‘no show’ on Thursday. We had been told that the item would be on, but we hope it will still make the programme, so keep watching! There has been a very brief piece on the Spotlight Facebook page, which gives a flavour of the full clip, if you would like to access this.
Earlier this week we had a practice for our sports day on Friday at Greenacres.
The children have loved being active and have enjoyed taking part in our traditional races and fun activities. We are really grateful to Lizzie Soper, who has given us invaluable help with our event and provided equipment for us to use. Thank you so much! 👏🙌👍
Having had so many visitors of late, it was nice to have yet another this week, although this one was a little unexpected!
It was amazing to see a hedgehog in our garden in the middle of the day, and we assumed that he may have arrived looking for a drink. As you can imagine, he caused a lot of excitement, and gave us a valuable opportunity to talk about what he was and to research hedgehogs with the children. Sometimes learning opportunities come out of the blue!
More swimming achievements this week.
Well done, and thank you for sharing your amazing news with us! The certificates are coming in thick and fast and soon you will no doubt be tackling the channel!
As many of you know, we have had quite a harvest from our planter at Collins Park. This week we picked some broad beans and some of our children have taken them home to cook and eat. Hope you liked them!
Mrs Woodmason also made a soup for everyone to try using beans, beetroot, lettuce and onions that all came from our planter. She is obviously an excellent chef as it tasted much nicer than you might imagine
and seemed to go down very well!

We were all sad about the England result on Wednesday, but proud of the team and lovely Gareth! We had a final bit of football mania and made flags and had a dance to footie anthems!

Friday was the day of our much anticipated Sports Afternoon, and we were once again greeted by bright skies for the occasion! As I’m sure all of you will agree, the children were magnificent. Thank you to all of you who came, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
For those of you whose children are leaving for primary school, don’t forget that we are holding our Leavers Service on Monday at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to attend – make sure you bring the tissues!
Party days are on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have yet to do so, please could you hand in your £2 ASAP as we need to buy the food. As previously stated, you will not need to send in a packed lunch on these days.
On our final day, Friday 20th, we are holding our annual ‘Party in the Park’ at West Hoe Park from 10am until 2pm. Everyone is welcome – the more the merrier! If the weather is wet (remember that!), the event will be cancelled and there will be no Pre-school on that day. Please check this blog in the morning as we will announce any decisions here. In past years we have gone ahead in quite difficult weather, so unless it’s very bad it will be worth having a check (if you fancy a challenge!)
What a wonderful sports day – it was so enjoyed by myself and Max’s grandparents! It was truly heartwarming to see the residents enjoy watching the children; definitely a link that can only get stronger. Thank you to all that helped to organise such a successful afternoon.
Thanks Kate! They did so well, especially considering that they had had at most one practise. We are lucky to have access to that lovely outdoor space. 🙂
