This week we have been making Christmas wreaths. They look very bright and colourful and we know you will be very excited to put them up at home!

We have also put up our decorations. Unfortunately the stars set off the alarms over the weekend and they’ve had to come back down! Hopefully Father Christmas won’t mind too much if he comes to visit.

The children asked to make playdough this week and we have been rolling it out and using the Christmas cutters. Using equipment like this is very good for developing their expertise with tools and their fine motor skills. We also find that they make imaginative representations of objects and animals, at the moment worms are quite popular! Some children like to use the dough with baking trays to make ‘cakes’ and this leads to lots of imaginative role play based on their first hand experiences which is part of the expressive arts and design curriculum. It can be very entertaining to hear them acting out their role play and developing their communication and language.IMG_0338

Just a reminder that the nativity is next Thursday (7th). You will need to bring your child to pre-school in their costume at 9am. As there is no session after the nativity that morning you will need to take your child’s coat with you. The performance will begin at 9.30 am and everyone is welcome!

Our Christmas party with Wishy Washy is on the 8th. If you have yet to pay (£2), please could you pass the money in as soon as possible. Children who don’t normally attend on this day will need to be brought to pre-school at 9am and unless you have paid for the extra time at the end of the party you will need to pick up at 11am.

Finally for now, don’t forget that you are invited to come in on Monday 11th Dec for a ‘stay and play’ session and a mince pie at any time between 9.30am and 11.30am or 1pm and 2.30pm. We hope to see you there!
