Two weeks to catch up on due to the snow! We hope you enjoyed the unusual weather (but maybe not the empty supermarket shelves or slippery pavements!)
The children really enjoyed science fortnight. Last week we made some cloud dough which was very popular.
If you would like to have a go at home here is the recipe:
8 parts flour
1 part vegetable oil
Mix until combined and smooth. (Nice and easy!)
This week saw the arrival of our eggs.
This was very exciting for everyone and soon we welcomed our first duckling – Uno.
Uno was quickly followed by Dos and Gem and the children had an opportunity to hold the ducklings and help to care for them.
They even gave them a bath which the ducklings really enjoyed!
We hope you agree that this whole experience has been really lovely and has produced many opportunities for learning. We have noticed that pre-school has been buzzing this week and that the children have been talking about the events and asking lots of new questions about what they have seen. We have talked about life cycles and how we can properly care for other living creatures. The children have been careful and caring with the ducklings and we are very proud of them.
Finally this week (spoiler alert!), we have been making Mothers Day cards. If you fail to get one on Sunday make sure you check your child’s bookbag as we are very careful to ensure that no one is left out! We hope you have a fantastic day on Sunday and are spoiled rotten!
This duckling experience has been brilliant! It has clearly brought a lot of excitement into the preschool. Megan has thoroughly enjoyed watching them and she was very keen to tell us about them having a bath (and a poo!) and how she got to hold them. It’s the most detail she’s ever gone into about her day so it’s clearly had an impact! It’s been really exciting and has incorporated some really important lessons for them too so thank you!
So glad Megan has enjoyed it. We know from experience how hard it is to get any information about what children do during the school day so it’s great that she talked about it at home!
Such an exciting week! We’ve loved coming in to look at the ducklings each morning; what a super experience for the children. Max is keen to make cloud dough at home, so may be one for a rainy Saturday morning!! Thank you for the wonderful mother’s day card; I especially love that you asked the children why they love their mummy – a precious keepsake that I will treasure. Have a lovely weekend.
Thanks Kate! Glad you liked your card-have a lovely mother’s day.
Oliver has loved having the ducklings in Pre school. He talks with such excitement about them. I think they will be missed when they go.
Thank you for giving them all such a great experience
It really was our pleasure – we all got attached! I’m glad Oliver enjoyed it so much.
