This week we began our ‘All About Me’ topic.
The children all had a turn at being measured and we talked about how many centimetres tall we are and the concepts of ‘taller’ and ‘shorter’.This activity is good for developing number awareness and concepts relating to measure.
Thanks to everyone who has brought in a family photo for our wall. The children love to look at these and they stimulate lots of conversation with the grown ups and their peers. Thanks too for he baby photos, which we are going to use in the next few weeks.
This week we have been planting spinach in our planter outside, so please could you avoid standing on our soil! We hope that the plants grow well and that we will be able to pick and eat them when the time comes! Finding out where the food that we eat comes from is part of the early years curriculum and we also find that when children grow and pick their own food they are more likely to give new foods a try (at least that’s the theory!) 😉
Another popular activity this week has been ‘Sticky Kids’, which is a music and movement CD. Everyone enjoys singing and dancing along to this, especially the adults! 😂
It was lovely to see Mrs Woodmason this week. She popped in to see us and gave us a card which we thought we would share with you. She is enjoying her retirement and looks very relaxed and rested!
Finally, a couple of heartfelt requests! Please can you make sure that your child always brings their book bag and that it is put in the yellow box by the door when they come into the session.
Perhaps most importantly, please can you ensure that you have clearly written your child’s name on all of their belongings. This is particularly necessary when we are trying to change your child if they have an accident. Searching through 20+ rucksacks is very time consuming and stops us from moving on to other activities. For this reason we would be SO grateful if you could write their name in large letters on the outside of the bag. Thank you so much!
