This week has been really action packed. On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from the police dogs and their handlers. The children listened well when they were told about the dogs skills and responsibilities and they loved seeing them sniffing out hidden items and apprehending suspects!
Then the police officers arrested Mrs Matthews (It’s a fair cop!) and the children had a go at fingerprinting and tried on the uniforms. It was great to be able to see what the police service do in our community and knowledge of different occupations is part of the curriculum.
As you saw last week, the children loved our volcano experiment. Many of them chose to make their own volcano to take home.
If you are brave enough to try to make it erupt at home, here’s how to do it!
We had a visit from Ann and two residents from Greenacres. The children showed them our stories and the activities that we have done this week. It’s lovely to welcome them as it gives more children a chance to chat to them and gain confidence with speaking to new people and different generations.
Our letter this week was ‘p’. We were amazed because when we were talking about the letters we have looked at so far we found that some children were beginning to be able to blend the sounds to make 3 letter words. We have really enjoyed our letter activities each week: next week we will be looking at the letter ‘g’.
As the weather has been reasonable this week, we have taken the opportunity to construct outdoors, make giant cobwebs (from string!) and blow bubbles.
