This week we have all been enjoying the lovely sunshine, the children have helped look after our new sensory garden. We have spoken lots about the importance of keeping hydrated and using suncream during the hot weather, the children have picked up on this and shown they are understanding the importance of this as they are making more of an effort to drink their water bottles and telling us they need to have their suncream applied ☀️
We have made the most of the sunshine this week, a small group of us went to Harley park for a little play. The children walked there and back very good, it’s lovely to take the opportunity to go for a walk in the local area as the children recognise familiar surroundings which gets them talking about their own experiences.
We have introduced the story ‘The very hungry caterpillar 🐛’ which of course the children are already very familiar with. We have changed our room around and included an insect investigation area which the children are loving! The children seem really interested and we have based lots of our activities this week around the story. We were expecting a delivery of caterpillars on Monday but unfortunately there were a shortage so this has been delayed due until after half term.
And another Wednesday visit to the care home, the children enjoyed playing bingo with the residents. They also had a run around in the their lovely garden area which we are now hoping to access more with the summer months coming ☀️
This week was the start of our open door afternoons with Compton primary school, we are extremely lucky to have such a good connection with next door which makes the transition from preschool to school a positive and exciting experience for the children. We also go next door into foundation for story time on a Monday afternoon so our children get lots of extra opportunities to see their primary school before starting in September.
**Just a polite reminder that parent declination forms need to be returned as soon as possible **
And lastly have a lovely bank holiday weekend, hopefully the sunshine makes an appearance again. And we shall see you on Tuesday 6th May☀️🐛
