Recently the children have been interested in making treasure maps. We were kindly given a role play pirate ship from a parent so this weekend Mr Matthews kindly built it for the children have this week. We love a bit of silliness and in the past the children have enjoyed the story ‘Pirates love underpants’.
This week the children have spent a lot of time being pirates looking for the hidden treasure and role playing as the characters! We even found a pirate name generator to work out what everyone’s pirate name would be based on their first letter in their first and last name. In preschool we have pirates named ‘Captain Blackbeard’, ‘Oily legs Lobster legs’ and ‘Arty Armpit’. This made the children laugh a lot!
The children made treasure maps, using teabags to stain the maps to make them look old!
The children used magnets to find the fish that were hidden amongst the sand. This helped encourage their number recognition and sequencing.
The children designed their favourite pair of underpants that they think the pirates would like.
Lots of our children are showing an interest in writing their names. They are beginning to form recognisable letters for their name. We used the salt in a tray to help support the children with forming their letters correctly using the rhymes from ‘read, write, inc’.
Mrs chapple has finished her paediatric first aid training now and will not need to do this for another 3 years!
Mrs Mapps and Mrs Jones attended a webinar about the nursery to school transition portal ready for us to input the childrens information which will be sent to their receiving primary school. Thank you to those families who have returned their completed information sharing consent form. We are still waiting on a couple to come back. Please do this asap as my deadline for uploading the initial information is Friday 4th April.
Next week is our Easter events with the care home and our Easter open door afternoon. Finer details have been put onto tapestry regarding this.
Next week is the last week before the Easter holidays. Holiday club is busy with only limited spaces left on certain days. Preschool resumes on Tuesday 22nd April.
Have a good weekend!
