We have welcomed some new children to preschool this week. It’s lovely to see new faces and families and we hope that you are all having a good time!
This week we have taken advantage of the better weather to go outside for physical activities. The children really enjoyed giving our assault course a go and of course, this is fantastic for honing their gross motor skills.
Some children also practised fine motor skills using the tweezers to sort pompoms. Matching activities like this are also important as they introduce concepts of matching and grouping.
Magnets are popular as they seem to the children to be almost magical! Working out what they stick to around the preschool is a good investigation.
We enjoyed lots of things!
Next week our letter will be ‘c’, and our MAKATON sign is ‘book’.
Next Thursday (4th March) is World Book Day. We will be dressing up, so please feel free to send your child dressed as a book character on that day.
Sam Matthews is planning to complete the 100K run during March for breast cancer. If you would like to make a contribution, of whatever size, it will be gratefully accepted as every one makes a difference. Some members of staff have taken part in online courses recently. Myself and Sharon had an early years SENCo masterclass and the other Sam participated in a resilience training workshop called ‘Movement Mondays’.
Just an early heads up for you. The last day of this term is Thursday 1st April and we return for the summer term on Monday 19th. Let’s hope that the restrictions continue to ease as we move further into spring and we can all enjoy a little more normality!
