At the craft table the children did some painting where Mrs Jones talked to them about repeating patterns. They made some beautiful pictures with this.

We found our parachute which we’d misplaced for a while. We used this activity to test their listening skills. The first session showed they needed to practise on these skills (or maybe it was just the excitement!) The next day they were fantastic. They were able to move the parachute slow and fast and stopped when told. We even made it more tricky buy not using words but signals, hand out for stop, click for slow and a clap for fast. I was very impressed with how well they grasped this. We also played games such as ‘washing machine’ and ‘popcorn’ which they are found very funny!

We did our weekly visit to Greenacres care home but we forgot to take the iPad. We took the same group of children as last week and they were much more confident during this visit. They played games with the residents such as picture bingo and ‘the shopping list’ game. A special thank you to the lovely Gill, who’s husband is a resident at the care home. She has kindly offered to help walk the children back and forth from the preschool to get them over safely.

Lots of the children have been really keen to keep developing their pencil control and are beginning to show an interest in forming recognisable letters. We like to support this with the children for those who are showing interest and are ready to move onto this.

The children are still really enjoying little red riding hood and are able to retell the story really well. We have even made some bread rolls for little reds picnic basket.

The children also made pictures of the forest where the big bad wolf saw little red riding hood! They did amazing!

Mrs Mapps went on an online webinar this week for the EYSEND Partnership regional event. She found this very useful to support her in her new role as SENDCO.

A reminder that next Friday 14th is our open door for Valentine’s Day. We would like to invite a ‘loved’ one to come into preschool between 10am – 11am to take part in some activities with their children. Also this day will be the last day before half term. Holiday club spaces are almost full so if you need the childcare please get in touch with Mrs Matthews or Miss Warren asap.
