This week we made a cake for the Greenacres baking competition. Even though we didn’t win, we had lots of fun making…
Decorating…
And eating it!
As it was Chinese New Year this week, we also ate some Chinese seaweed at snack time. Not all the children were as keen on this, although most were willing to try it!
This year is the year of the pig, so we decorated some pigs with collage scraps.
Lovely fluffy pigs! 🐷
Someone brought in some dressing up props, which were great fun!
Outside some children made a ramp for the toy cars to go down. They told us that the small, heavy cars go faster than the big, light ones. Independently making such deductions based on their observations is a really important development goal. 😀👍
Our letter this week was ‘s’. The children are really enjoying talking about the letter each week.
Next week our focus letter will be ‘d’ (‘duh’).
Finally, the staff had some more speech and language training this week. It was really interesting and will help us to identify the language needs of the children and give us ways to help develop their communication skills. Also, Mrs Chapple and Miss Warren went on a paediatric first aid course. All members of staff at preschool are first aid trained and we renew our certificates every three years.
Don’t forget that next week is the last before half term. Let’s hope that the weather is a bit better for the week off!
Thank you for such a fun filled week. The cake making was definitely a hit in this house as we’ve had lots of talk about how to make a cake!
That’s great! We’re so grateful to Trudi who comes in each week to bake with the children. She is an amazing cook as everything is delicious, which isn’t easy given our tiny oven and lots of very enthusiastic children! 🙌😀
I just love reading this blog every week and looking out for pictures of my little pickle, she’s talked a lot about cake making and visiting the care home 😍
That’s so nice to hear! We love to know that the blog is read and enjoyed! The cake making was a hit this week. 👍
Looks like another fun and busy week at Pre-School. Jimmy has told me all the sounds he has learnt!
Fantastic! We’re really impressed with the response to the letter of the week.
