I apologise for the missed blog last week. We had ‘the call’ so our minds were elsewhere! We had our inspection on Monday and we are pleased with the outcome but obviously cannot share officially how it went until the report has been drafted and then published.

Last week I went on a webinar about nutrition and encouraging the children to eat more healthily. It talked about how as a generation more families have fallen into the habit of buying packets and processed food for convenience and how these food items don’t have as much of the goodness as the fresh foods. We used this opportunity to talk to the children as a group to talk about the food items we have in our lunches and what are healthier or unhealthier choices. Obviously talking about having everything in moderation too. We did an activity where the children had to categorise the food items into healthy or unhealthy. They all showed a really good understanding of this.
The children have continued to enjoy our big investigation area and have been learning about the different bugs we may find. They found lots of different ones in the garden which they have been keen to show us. We have continued to follow our activities around these themes.
A big thank you to skills group training college who donated some benches to the preschool that their carpentry students had made. They have already been used lots this week for a range of different things!
We have been practising our fine motor skills and building up those muscles in those small hands to get ready for when the children are ready to write. We did a ‘write dance’ activity which most of the children wanted to take part in and some activities using tweezers.
The children have been really happy and have been extremely busy at preschool!
Today is the last day before half term. Miss Warren and I are running holiday club next Tuesday as a Monday is bank holiday.
Normal preschool resumes on Monday 2nd June for our final half term of the academic year.
Have a lovely week, hopefully the sunshine will make an appearance again!
Sam and all the Team 😃
