(Spoiler alert!)
This week the children made Fathers Day cards, using their fingerprints to decorate fish.
This was a great opportunity for them to talk about their families and all of the special things they do!
We also picked some of the lettuces that we have been growing.
Which the children washed and had the opportunity to take home (not everyone wanted to!) 😂
After all of that horticultural effort, we relaxed each day after lunch by listening to ‘Baby Mozart’. One of our children told us that the music was ‘beautiful’ and has been asking his mum if he can listen to it at home!
We also became budding archaeologists during a bug excavation in which we used different tools to dig the creatures from the ice. The children really enjoyed this and were excited to see who could dig out the most bugs! (Good counting practice!) 🕷🦟🦗🐝🐜
One of our new toys was the hammer and nail tap tap. It was really great to see so many children giving it a go because it needs good fine motor skills. It’s been very popular all week. The children can also use the cards to match with their board, which is an important skill for them to master.
The makaton sign for this week was STOP.
The letter of the week for next week is ‘h’.
We had a sporting achievement this week- ‘Man of the Match’! Well done!👍⚽️
One of our children brought in some birthday cake 🧁!
The staff had some speech and language training on Monday, which was, as always, very useful.
The sign up sheet for the parents evening on Monday 1st July is now on the door. Please put your name down for a slot. This event is only for those children who are moving to primary school as we will be discussing the transfer documents. Unfortunately I am unable to make that date and so I will be speaking to my key parents next week to arrange an alternative time to meet. 👍
Finally, we began practising the songs for our ‘Leavers Celebration’, which will take place on Monday 15th July at 2.30pm. This is an opportunity to get together with all of the families whose children are leaving us for primary school and to show what the children can do! It’s a lovely (if sometimes emotional!) occasion and we hope you will be able to join us.😃😢 😃

Lovely photos! 😃 Sylvia constantly talks about all the lovely things she gets up to at pre-school.
Thank you! That’s good to hear! 😃
