This week we have been reading ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’, which is a book that many of you may know. This has led to lots of fun activities. We made a cave for our little bears to live in!

The children made a collage which featured the grass, mud and snow from the story, which led to lots of discussion.

One thing that we all really enjoyed was making edible teddy faces. When we prepare food we have an opportunity to talk to the children about the need to wash our hands and to follow hygiene rules.

We made some jelly with the children this week and talked about how it changed from a liquid to a wobbly solid. It was lots of fun to play with!

The children enjoyed the marble rolling last week so much that we decided to try it on a larger scale!

Some exciting news! We have been invited to participate in the Compton Reading Quest and Little Library project run by Compton Primary School. Soon you will receive a leaflet with more information regarding this and will see a display of books appear in our sheltered area. Your child can select from these books and record each time they complete one. Stickers will be awarded for 5, 10 and 15 books read and there will be a chance to win a book token. The box will also have a selection of books for all ages and these can be taken in exchange for a book that you no longer want and are happy to donate. Keep an eye on your child’s bookbag as the leaflets will be going out soon and we hope to have the project up and running within the next week or so.

A little request now. If you have any kitchen roll tubes we would be very grateful to receive them so please pass them in when you drop off/pick up your child. Thank you!

Don’t forget that there are a limited number of spaces still available for our half term holiday club on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th October. Please see a member of staff if you would like to reserve a place.

Take care everybody and have a lovely weekend.
