This week we have done lots of hands on activities. We made gingerbread men, which provides a good opportunity to talk about the need for good hygiene practices such as hand washing.
We have been branching out with paint. Why use a brush when you can paint with spaghetti!
Cars!
Or shaving foam and cotton buds!
Mark making activities are really good for developing hand eye coordination and providing a wide variety of opportunities means that children who may be reluctant to pick up a pen or pencil are encouraged to take part.
For snack this week the children prepared and tried some mango. There were a number of different reactions, but most children were prepared to give it a try!
We have been playing a lot of games lately. The children have been asking to do this and it’s great for encouraging turn taking and cooperation.
We played a penguin game this week. This involved the children copying a sequence of coloured penguins. Making a sequence correctly is an important early maths skill and the children enjoyed doing this.
An advance date for your diary. We will be celebrating Children in Need on Friday 15th November. If your child would like to wear spotty clothes on this day that would be great. We will also be participating in the BBC duck race. You can sponsor a duck for £2 and the race will be screened live on Facebook. A prize will go to the sponsor of the winning duck and all proceeds will go to the charity.
A quick reminder: we have a child at preschool who has an egg allergy so could we please ask that you avoid eggs in your child’s packed lunch. Thank you.
Our letter of the week next week will be ‘t’ and our Makaton sign is ‘milk’.
