This week our letter of the week was ‘f’ and we had lots of activities that began with this letter.
The children went fishing in the water tray with magnets and number fish. This is a really fun way to reinforce number recognition.
We also made a massive fruit salad. Cutting the fruit up is good practice for fine motor skills and we could also talk about healthy foods. The result was very colourful and delicious!
We had lots of fun in the sun too. We played outside in the garden.
Some children also had an opportunity to go to the Collings Park allotment. It was lovely to have a chance to really run around and explore the environment and nature. There are lots of bugs, birds and creepy crawlies around at this time of year, as well as new plants and flowers. Observing what we see in the natural world is very interesting and also part of the early years curriculum.
All of this activity can be a bit tiring though! 😂😴
This week our makaton sign has been ‘drink’. This had been a good one as we’ve all needed to have lots of drinks to avoid becoming dehydrated in the sun! Our letter after half term will be ‘e’.
Date for your diary:
We will be holding our parents evening on Monday 1st July. This is only for the children who will be leaving for primary school as we will be discussing the transfer documents. A list of available slots will be put on the door nearer the time. All children will receive a transfer document/summative report in the week leading up to the 1st July, which you will need to complete and hand back/bring to the parents evening.
As mentioned-half term next week! Let’s hope that the weather stays kind. We look forward to seeing you back on Monday 3rd June. 🌞
