It was nice to be back after the half term break, especially as we’re allowed to stay open and still be together during the new lockdown. Thank you for remembering to wear a mask for drop off and pick up, this will continue until we have any contrary guidance.
This week we celebrated Guy Fawkes Night by making a variety of firework pictures throughout the week. The children really enjoyed using lots of glitter, which was good practice for the glitterfest that is the run up to Christmas!
Also this week we have been practising letter formation, which links to the letter of the week and phonic recognition.
We have also used some models to explore counting and number!
Well done to our ‘tip top tidy upper’!
In light of the rising cases of Covid in the city we have decided to change our staff rota during the current lockdown period. This is to create two staff ‘bubbles’ which would hopefully allow us to remain open should one member of staff have to self isolate due to a positive test. From next week until the 2nd of December the staff on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be Mrs Chapple, Miss Warren and Mr David and on Thursdays and Fridays it will be the two Mrs Matthews and myself (Mrs Beal!). For this reason your child’s keyworker may see a little less of your child during the week, but please be assured that, as a small and close-knit team, we all work together to provide as rich and enjoyable an educational environment as possible. You may see slightly fewer tapestry posts though as staff aren’t in every day, so please bear with us. We are trying as hard as we can to keep our doors open and let you, your children and us maintain as much normality as possible. As always, if you would like any advice, have any queries, or would just like a chat, we are available by phone or email so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We are beginning to gear up for Christmas and are planning to go ahead with our Christmas raffle. We would be very grateful for any donations for our hamper. If you would like to donate any non-perishable festive foodstuffs, please pass them in to a member of staff. We would also love to receive any kitchen roll tubes for our Christmas craft. Thank you.
Please keep checking this blog for information about what’s going on in the run up to Christmas. Although we can’t have our usual Nativity, we are planning some fun events for the children, so watch this space!
The last day of this term is Thursday 17th December and we will return for the Spring term on Monday 4th January.
Next week our letter of the week will be ‘t’ and our Makaton sign is ‘milk’, so make sure you ask your child for a demonstration!
We hope that you have a lovely weekend! Take care and see you next week.
What beautiful firework pictures! Oliver is always keen to talk about the letter of the week and we play a game to see what things we can think of that begin with that letter.
That’s good! He is always really keen to volunteer words at preschool too!
