This week we have enjoyed a range of Easter themed activities. We talked to the children about what some Christian’s believe and why they celebrate Easter. However as you can imagine the chocolate and Easter egg hunts were the highlight of the week!

On Wednesday the children brought in their Easter  bonnets that they had made at home with their families! These were incredible! We walked over to Greenacres care home where the residents judged our bonnets. Well done to our winners Athena, Bella, Tobias and Arthur!

The children were able to take part in an Easter egg hunt in their garden, however we had a sneaky visitor who tried to take the chocolate! 🐿️ Once all the eggs and treats were found the children helped judge the residents bonnets!

Thank you to Greenacres care home for inviting us over for this lovely event and a huge thank you to the helpers who helped us walk the children safely over to the care home. Here are some more of the fantastic Easter bonnets  made.

Here is an observation on the children’s tapestry account from our lovely Thursday afternoon, however as we were having so much fun we only had videos not photos for this!

This afternoon we had a visit from the Easter bunny who left eggs for the children to find. Before we went out to find them we read a story called Mr impossible and the Easter egg hunt. When the children went outside to find them, some of them were easy and not like Mr impossible’s hiding places. Once all the eggs were found we came inside and counted all the eggs to make sure we didn’t miss any! (The Easter Bunny told Mrs Matthews there were 80!)
We found 76 so knew we had 4 to find! We went back outside and managed to find the last 4.

The teachers then had a turn at hiding the eggs and did lots of tricky ones like Mr impossible for the children to find. The children wanted us to do this several times so it kept them occupied for a while 🤣

Then Athena suggested the children hide the eggs so the teachers can find them. They nominated Mrs (granny) Matthews to stay outside with them whilst the all hid an egg each. I think Mrs Matthews found the most 😜

Once the eggs were found by the teachers the children had one last go at finding them. Whilst they were being hid I asked the children if they could tell me where they hid either eggs. Mrs Matthews and I were impressed by their memory, descriptive and positional language as they explained where their egg was hidden.

After one last go we came back in for a snack and drink where of course they were able to eat an egg. However not before they remembered something we always practice with them – ‘pleases and thank you’s’. If they didn’t say thank you straight away it had to go back in the bowl until Mrs chapple had gone around to the rest of the children. Fortunately this was only a couple of children – we will keep practicing this (could you also at home please 😄).

We had a very fun afternoon whilst learning lots of skills!

Friday afternoon we had our Easter open afternoon where parents and family members were invited into preschool to join in with some Easter activities with their child. Thank you so much to everyone who came and support this. It was lovely having you in! Once again though – too much fun was had and we forgot to take any photos! 🤦🏼‍♀️

We are now closed for the Easter holidays with holiday club running on both Mondays and Tuesdays.

Preschool resumes on Tuesday 22nd March.

Happy Easter to everyone!
