This week was really exciting as our butterflies have emerged from their cocoons. Four of them came out over the weekend (typical!), but luckily the last one hung on until Monday morning so we could see it. Due to the hot weather, the butterflies were soon very active and on Wednesday we could let them go, which was amazing and caused a stir with the children.
We made some craft butterflies this week to extend this theme.
We have been cooking this week. This gives us an opportunity to talk about healthy foods and hand hygiene. We made banana cake.
And fruit kebabs.
We’ve had a lovely week!
Next Tuesday (4th) is our Sports Day. It should be a great event as lots of you have said you would like to come. At the moment the weather is hard to call, so keep everything crossed that it is dry! If it is rainy, we will have to cancel and it will be a normal preschool day.
Over the summer there are some free workshops run by Plymouth City Council that you might like if you have children aged 6 and above:
It’s not too late for you to book our holiday club if your children are younger. Speak to a member of staff if you would like to do this.
There are some lovely workshops in the summer run by Nook Houseplants:
We have been sent some details about Plymouth City Council’s ‘Let’s Get Chatting’ campaign which is full of tips for helping your child’s communication skills, particularly if they are going to school in September. Click on the link below to check this out.
We have also been given some details about workshops which may be of interest, organised by PIAS (Plymouth Information and Advice for SEND):
On Tuesday, Sam Matthews and myself attended an information session about a new speech and language programme that is being offered to settings. We have decided to sign up for this as it will be a good opportunity for us to enhance our skills and to provide extra support for children’s speech and language development. Watch this space for more information on this in the future.
Have a good weekend everyone, take care and see you next week.❤️❤️❤️
