This week has been a very hectic one at pre-school! As you know we had our Ofsted inspection on Monday. We can’t let you know the result until it is officially released, but we are pleased with the outcome and will let you know the details as soon as we can. 😃
We had our usual wide range of activities this week and managed to use our outside area despite the rain! Miss Warren made some more gingerbread men and the children enjoyed weighing out the ingredients. We have a new set of scales and it was very exciting to see the numbers flash up on the display, with many children desperate to say the number first!
More tasting was done at snacktime, when we tasted some tropical fruits.
The children did some vegetable preparation of their own in the mud kitchen. Using safety knives to chop up veg is great for developing motor skills and we find that activities like this lead to lots of imaginative role play which can be very entertaining!
Now that the leaves are falling from the trees and conkers are appearing, we have been talking about autumn. We had an activity with autumn leaves and plants. It’s good to talk about the changes that we see in the world around us.
At the care home this week the children played a game racing pigs! It caused a lot of fun amongst the children and residents.
And dominoes (good for counting!)
Mrs Chapple and I had some training on Monday and Tuesday from the Autism Education Trust, which was very interesting and useful.
Next week we are welcoming a work experience student from Notre Dame, which is always a nice experience for the children. Our letter of the week will be ‘i’ and our MAKATON sign is ‘yes’.
Don’t forget that next week is the last before half term. We are looking forward to a little rest after such a busy few weeks. Holiday club will take place on Monday and Tuesday so if you would still like to reserve a place please speak to a member of staff. 👍
