This week we have put away our puddle suits (being optimistic!) and used our clothes rail for school uniform dressing up instead. Our oldest children are leaving us to start primary school very soon and we are doing everything we can to get them ready.

This week we have been practising our fine motor skills and the children have had a go at writing their name in different things. This is a fun activity that encourages children who may be reluctant to pick up a pencil to hone the skills they need for writing.

We have been planting strawberries in our planter. The children enjoyed preparing the soil and it’ll be exciting to watch the strawberries grow and to able to eat them.

We have begun to have our summer term sessions when we open the doors between us and foundation and the children can mingle and explore big school. This is a great way for the leavers to become used to a primary school environment, whichever school they will go to. We also have story time when the children go into primary school to listen to one of the teachers read a story.

We’ve had lots of fun.
