This week the children chose to take a lot of activities outside as the weather was so lovely.
They did potato printing in the big trays.
This is a really fun way to reinforce 2 dimensional shapes, which is part of the maths curriculum. We aim to deliver learning through play as children develop best with this approach.
Some children independently decided to make a caterpillar out of pots, pans and crockery. It was fantastic to see them cooperating and deciding together how they would achieve this goal. They sorted the pots in size order and ended up with a very impressive result!
Now that the plants are beginning to grow, some digging and gardening was needed!
Digging continued in the sandpit. One bonus of this activity is that the children take their shoes off and so have to have a go at putting them on again!
We also took the play dough outside.
After all of the hard work, we decided a little bit of yoga would be a good way to wind down!
Don’t forget that next Tuesday (2nd April) is our coffee and cake open afternoon with our ‘Great Compton Bake Off’. We will be selling raffle tickets and refreshments and any money raised will be spent on extending our water play outside.
A couple of courses for staff this week. Chloe (Miss Warren) attended a safeguarding course about sexual exploitation, and Sharon (Mrs Matthews) went to a leaders and managers meeting. I’m now half way through my SENCo award, which has been really informative and good for augmenting my skills and knowledge, but also a lot of hard work, so forgive me if I look a bit tired! 😴😀
Next week is the last one before the Easter break. Hopefully then the children and staff will all be able to have a rest and recharge their batteries. The letter of the week will be ‘o’.
