We started the week off talking to the children about St Patrick’s day ☘️. The children learned about St Patrick, the legends of the cheeky leprechaun and how some of the Irish families celebrate this special day.
Some of the children made some beautiful pictures of rainbow handprints which led them to a pot of gold!
A few weeks ago the children helped plant some tomato and onion seeds. They have already started to grow well that we have now moved them into bigger pots. As it is still a bit chilly we are keeping them inside in the greenhouse. The children are learning about what plants need to help them grow and are doing a good job in helping us do so.
On Thursday 20th March we celebrated the book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ as it was the first day of spring. We read the story and at snack time the children had the opportunity to retell the story by choosing the correct amount of pieces of fruit for each day. This helps support with their counting skills too!
We also continued with practising our maths skills with fingerprint caterpillars where the children were very good with identifying their numbers 1-10 and able to match the correct amount of fingerprints (for the caterpillar bodies) to the right number.
The children are particularly enjoying making ‘shows’ at the moment and have been making their own stages in the garden!
We continue to extend on the children’s interests by offering extra resources to support them in their play. This child enjoyed pretending her baby had a dirty nappy so was able to change the baby’s nappy using the mat, wet wipes and a nappy.
They have had lots of fun this week!

Mrs Chapple has been on part 1 of her paediatric first aid course. All staff undertake this training every 3 years to refresh us of those skills!
A reminder that we will be selling raffle tickets for our Easter raffle from next week. We haven’t received any donations for this yet so would be really grateful of these to help make this a success. We are hoping to use any money raised to buy some resources for the garden.
Have a good weekend all!
Sam & Team ☺️
