Well we thought we packed a lot in last week but this week has been another level of busy!
We began the week talking to the children about the Islamic celebration of Ramadan/ Eid al fitr. We talked about how some families will be fasting and what this means. We will continue to talk about this as the weeks go on before Eid.
Tuesday was shrove Tuesday / pancake day. We talked to the children about why it is called shrove tuesday although I think they were just more interested in eating pancakes! We had made some pancakes for snack. The children helped make a vegan batch and we used a cheat bottle for the rest. We set up the hob and made a ‘safety circle’ which the children knew they weren’t allowed to step into to keep them a safe distance to prevent any injuries. I think they enjoyed these! After we’d finished eating them and the frying pan was cold. We had a left over pancake. The children all took it in turns to have a go at flipping the pancakes. This was really funny! It ended up on the floor, on their head or on their friends head. Safe to say that one wasn’t eaten!
On Wednesday we had a visit from one of our Dads who had written a story called ‘there is a biz it under my bed’. Paul came and read this to the children and we talked about what we would make our monster look like. We split into smaller groups and talked about/drew what we wanted our monster to look like. This was very exciting for the children to see their creation come to life. Paul then printed out a couple of the pictures for us to keep of creations. Thank you Paul!
With the dry weather we have cleaned out our planter to start it fresh! We have brought our greenhouse into the main room as the temperature still drops a bit too chilly. The children have planted some tomatoes and onion seeds. Once they have grown enough and have matured we will transport them outside.
Unfortunately with sickness still doing the rounds this week we didn’t go for our visit to the care home, however we took the opportunity to get to Collings Park to our planter to see what that is looking like. In all honesty it’s needing a bit of TLC and so we would be really grateful if we could get some volunteers to help us tidy this up ready for us to plant again. Whilst we were there we saw lots of frog spawn in the pond. We are hoping this is successful so we are be able to see Tadpoles on our future visits! The children enjoyed the freedom and fresh air!
Thursday was World Book Day. Every child came dressed as a book character which was fantastic. We also did a book swap where each child came home with a new story. The children enjoyed making books & bookmarks throughout the day.
There is still so much more that the children have been up to this week such as games,
puzzles, yoga, painting, playdough, the three little bears craft and role play!
Unfortunately we have had a few children off sick with sickness and diahorrea this week. Please just a reminder that if your child has either of these they cannot attend preschool until they are 48 hour clears from the LAST bout of either. This will help us try and minimise the spread.
Have a good weekend everyone!
